3. Handle suspected computers with care
Do not shut them down, as this may complicate the investigative work. If possible, isolate them from the network either through firewalls or by physically disconnecting them.
4. Assess risk with personal data
Does the computers contain personal data? Estimate the risk to individuals if such data has been compromised.
5. Check used accounts and passwords
Is it possible that the accounts/passwords used in the system work elsewhere?
6. Communicate internally
Address the issue with the data protection officer or management.
7. Consider reporting to authorities
Is there a reason to report the situation to data protection authorities or other relevant authorities?
