Sustainability in NetNordic

Environmental Policy & Sustainability

NetNordic offers cloud-based services and XaaS solutions. We also help our customers with space and energy-efficient data center solutions. Our solutions help our customers reduce their environmental footprint. NetNordic sees climate change as one of the most important issues of our time.

Our planet is getting warmer, and if it continues to warm at the current rate, the impact on society will be catastrophic. Action to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels is needed urgently. To achieve this, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions must be drastically reduced.

Objective:

NetNordic will continue to prevent and minimize the environmental impact of our operations through systematic environmental work and continuous improvements.

Purpose

NetNordic shall comply with applicable environmental legislation, rules, requirements and standards and constantly strive to improve our environmental work. Our ambition is to be perceived as active and credible in our environmental work, both:

  • Internally for continued focus on environmental and health adaptation of the business.
  • Externally to reduce our environmental footprint in the production and delivery of our products and services.

How? Through systematic work!

A systematic environmental work in NetNordic means that:

  • The CEO annually formulates concrete targets for environmental work.
  • Annual evaluations and follow-ups are carried out by an external partner.
  • Continuous improvements shall be a guiding principle for gradually expanding our environmental work.
  • Current legislation and other rules and regulations constitute a minimum level in NetNordic’s environmental work.
  • Employees shall be given the opportunity for further training and information on environmental legislation.

Basic principles:

We strive to improve profitability and make our operations more efficient from an environmental point of view.

  • We follow what we call the replacement principle, which means that we continuously replace older, poorer functioning technology with newer, more environmentally friendly technology and equipment.
  • Our environmental work also follows the so-called precautionary principle, which means that we avoid risky production and companies and instead find safer methods and ways of working.

Environmental Aspects

NetNordic’s environmental aspects include the following fundamental commitments and initiatives:

  • Energy: We strive for as low energy consumption as possible. Therefore, we primarily use cloud services, but also energy-efficient server solutions. The data centers we work with have the highest eco-certifications and use only green electricity, and they also convert surplus heat into district heating.
  • Recycling: As far as possible, we make sure that old worn-out equipment goes to refurbishment/reuse. What cannot be reused, we make sure to scrap in an environmentally friendly way.
  • Transport: We prioritise eco-labelled transport of goods. We also strive for transports to be as short and as few as possible, by taking goods from the nearest warehouse and co-packing deliveries. We are actively working to replace our fossil-fueled company cars with electric cars.
  • Purchasing: We set environmental requirements for our suppliers and take environmental considerations into account when making major investments, such as the purchase of work or office equipment.

Increase environmental awareness

All employees with external contacts, such as business partners, suppliers and customers, commit to working with them to increase their environmental awareness and support them to reduce their environmental impact in their use of our services and products.

SMART Environmental work

Every goal for our environmental work should be SMART, which means Specific, Measurable, Accepted, Realistic and Timed. This means concrete and specific formulations and goals that can be followed up and evaluated. The goals are revised annually, and the measures are monitored quarterly.

Annual Sustainability Report

Sustainability is one of the most important and pressing themes of our age. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) are the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of a company. The report is the result of an independent review by an external consultancy firm, commissioned and approved by the board and management of NetNordic. The Openness Act Statement

In July 2022, the Openness Act entered into force and NetNordic as a company is therefore obliged to publish a statement related to this act. It is the Norwegian Consumer Protection Authority that is responsible for following up that companies comply with the requirements of this law, including disclosure.
