NetNordic delivers one of Northern Europe’s first cloud-based IPTV solutions with integrated Chromecast!
The fantastic Fýri Resort in Hemsedal opened its doors on December 20, 2019. This is a completely unique boutique hotel beautifully situated between the mountains and the ski resort in Hemsedal. The hotel is operated by the Swedish Ess Group AB, which opened its first hotel in Norway with this venture.
Discreet yet functional
The hotel sought a supplier that could meet all its technology delivery needs. They also wanted a provider with experience in the hotel industry and specifically in the Norwegian market. It was important for Ess Group that guests checking into this hotel experienced the technology as discreet yet functional. For Ess Group, it was significant to partner with a supplier who could take a more holistic responsibility for the hotel’s deliveries, particularly since the company did not have local resources in the initial phases of this hotel project.
There was also a requirement that the services to be delivered were cloud-based. The hotel did not want to take responsibility for operations, maintenance, or upgrades.
Cloud-based service in common platform
NetNordic was chosen as the total supplier for Fýri Resort. All solutions were delivered as a cloud-based service over the same platform. Through this cloud platform, the hotel received WIFI, networking, telephony, and IPTV. As part of the IPTV delivery, a cloud-based IPTV headend was included to distribute TV channels to all rooms in the hotel. Additionally, SMART TVs with integrated Chromecast were part of the delivery.
NetNordic also provided internet access with redundancy over the mobile network, as well as mobile subscriptions and mobile phones for hotel staff.
The delivered platform ensures that Fýri Resort has a predictable cost structure and minimal technical installations in the hotel. The hotel did not want any responsibility for the operation, maintenance, or upgrades of the delivered technology.

Outcome
Fýri Resort var Ess Groups første hotel i Norgen. Det var derfor kritisk for selskapet at hotellet kunne åpne i tide, og var velfungerende fra første dag. NetNordic fikk et utvidet ansvar for leveranse av tekniske løsninger til hotellet. Vi hadde også en koordinerende rolle på vegne av Ess Group, for å sikre at alle leveranser ble gjennomført innenfor tidsfristen.
Hotellet kunne etter planen ta imot sine første gjester den 20. desember 2019, og gjestene som sjekket inn ble da møtt av et teknisk velfungerende hotell som svarte til deres forventinger.
