Midstar AB is a leading pan-Nordic asset management companies focused exclusively on hotel real estate investments. The company was founded in January 2008 and invests in the hotel sector in the Nordic region. The company’s goal is to ”create better hotels” by management, active ownership and continued development of the hotel properties through strategic value enhancing activities. Peter Tengström, Ola Stendebakken and Marc Henriksen own and run Midstar AB, actively overseeing all aspects of daily operations. Their background covers transactions, financing, project management, business development, hotel management and hotel brand development.

Midstar Hotels AB enters into collaboration with NetNordic for a prestigious project in Copenhagen!

Hotel Grand Joanne is one of Copenhagen’s oldest and most venerable hotels. It is located in a beautiful building from the 19th century in the heart of the popular district of Vesterbro. The hotel was reopened in March 2022 after undergoing extensive rehabilitation and refurbishment over the past two years. This hotel has a historical charm and offers its guests service and experiences beyond the ordinary.

The hotel is owned by the hotel operator Midstar AB, which is a leading hotel operator with hotels throughout the Nordic region. Midstar’s ambitions when Hotel Grand Johanne was undergoing extensive rehabilitation were that the hotel would reemerge as a place where memories would be created through music, food, drinks, and cultural elements.

The focus has consistently been on ensuring that guests have the best possible experience of both the hotel and the digital guest journey. At the same time, it was crucial that employees had access to technology and services that allowed them to perform their work as quickly, efficiently, and guest-friendly as possible.

The Solution

All solutions were delivered as a cloud-based service, over the same platform. Through this cloud platform, the hotel has received telephony, WIFI, Network, Digital Signage, IPTV, and technology for conference rooms. As part of the IPTV delivery, a cloud-based IPTV headend is also included, which distributes TV channels to all rooms in the hotel. In addition, there are SMART TVs with integrated Chromecast so that guests can stream their own content to the TV screen in the guest rooms.

The Result

Outcome

Hotel Grand Joanne is one of the gems in the hotel operator Midstar AB’s portfolio. It was crucial for Midstar AB that the hotel could open on time and was functioning well from day one for both guests and staff. This required a strategic partner in the delivery of technology that was both predictable, flexible, and at the same time focused on high delivery quality. NetNordic was awarded the contract for the delivery of technology to the hotel after a comprehensive assessment.

The hotel welcomed its first guests in March 2023, and from the first day the guests could experience a unique hotel where even the smallest details had been thought of and taken care of.
