Værnesregionen
Værnes Respons is an inter-municipal collaboration for receiving and processing notifications from security alarms and other health technology.
An inter-municipal collaboration
After one year of operation, Værnes Response has achieved significant gains from the solution provided by NetNordic. In close collaboration with Værnes Response, we have developed a comprehensive response service for receiving alarms and alerts from sensor technology for a total of 11 municipalities. Værnes Response is an inter-municipal collaboration for response services related to safety alarms and other welfare technology solutions. As of May 1, 2020, the inter-municipal collaboration consists of 11 municipalities: Selbu, Tydal, Meråker, Frosta, Stjørdal, Nærøysund, Melhus, Skaun, Midtre-Gauldal, Levanger, and Verdal. The collaboration is co-located with the current emergency medical service, where there are two stations for the response service. Currently, nurses are employed to staff the response service.
Værnes Response was officially opened in late April 2019. Implementation of safety alarms for Stjørdal municipality began at that time. Frosta municipality connected its safety alarms to Værnes Response in May 2019. Selbu, Tydal, Meråker, and Nærøysund municipalities connected their safety alarms in the fall of 2019. The municipalities use safety alarms from Tunstall, Doro, and Neat Novo, which simplifies the implementation process as they can utilize the safety alarms they already own.
Melhus, Skaun, and Midtre-Gauldal decided to join Værnes Response from January 1, 2020. In the spring of 2020, Melhus municipality connected its safety alarms to Værnes Response. Værnes Response now manages approximately 1,000 users with safety alarms. As of May 1, Værnes Response has handled 10,250 safety alarms from home residents. Skaun, Midtre-Gauldal, Levanger, and Verdal municipalities have decided to join Værnes Response, with plans for integration in May/June 2020.
The municipalities have also connected various sensors, such as bed, motion, and door sensors, to the same safety alarm box. The safety alarm goes to the response center, while the various sensors are routed directly to the home care service. Being able to receive different alerts in one system simplifies the reception and processing of alarms. Værnes Response has established technical integration with Safemate, which is now set to be tested and put into operation.
The safety alarm service is now provided as a more secure service, ensuring that technical faults are detected and that there are routines for following up on technical alerts.
Værnes Respons is co-located with the current emergency room for the Værnes region, and according to Marit Hårstad, specialist in the home service, they have noticed a big change after they have implemented their security alarms for Værnes Respons. They experience better quality in the answering service, fast response time. Previously, there was uncertainty as to whether the security alarm worked as it should, now it is certain that technical alerts will be taken care of and that the service will be contacted from Værnes Respons should there be anything. If a decision is made about a security alarm, it will preferably be programmed and installed the same day. This creates a more efficient service for employees, and ensures that residents receive a safe and secure service from the municipality.
The Solution by NetNordic
The solution integrates with the municipalities’ Active Directory (AD). This ensures access for employees who will handle alarms in the service, allowing them to operate with the same username and password as when logging in on a PC. The solution also integrates with the journal system, so that when an operator in the response center or executing service acknowledges an alarm, it is recorded in the user’s electronic patient journal with cause, action code, and any comments.r.
Værnes Response is co-located with the current emergency medical service for the Værnes region, and according to Marit Hårstad, head of home care services, they have noticed a significant change since implementing their safety alarms with Værnes Response. They experience better quality in the response service and faster response times. Previously, there was uncertainty about whether the safety alarm functioned as it should; now they are assured that technical alerts are addressed and that the service is contacted by Værnes Response if necessary. If a decision is made regarding a safety alarm, it is typically programmed and installed the same day. “This creates a more efficient service for staff and ensures that residents receive a safe and secure service from the municipality,” says Marit Hårstad.
